Understanding Telegram Filtering
Telegram, the popular messaging app, allows users to control who can contact them through the filtering feature. This feature gives you the power to manage unwanted messages and spam by blocking or muting users based on certain criteria. Here's a guide on how to get the most out of Telegram's filtering options.
Why Use Telegram Filtering?
Sometimes, you might find your chats flooded with messages from strangers or bots that you don’t want to interact with. Turning on Telegram’s filtering can help you keep your inbox clean and make sure you only see messages that matter to you.
Steps to Enable Telegram Filtering
- Open Telegram and log into your account.
- Go to Settings and select Privacy and Security.
- Scroll down to the Who can contact me section and tap on it.
- Here, you can choose between three options: Everyone, My Contacts Only, and My Contacts and those I approved. Select the one that best suits your needs.
Another way to filter unwanted messages is by using the Block Contact option. To block a specific user:
- Open the chat with the user you want to block.
- Tap on the user's profile picture.
- Scroll down and select Block User.
Managing Spam Channels and Bots
To prevent spam from channels and bots, you can mute or block them:
- Open the chat with the spam channel or bot.
- Tap on the More options button (three dots).
- Select Mute Chat to stop receiving notifications from that chat.
- If you want to block the channel or bot, choose Block Chat.
Strategies for Effective Filtering
Here are a few tips to make your filtering more effective:
- Keep your contact list up to date. Remove old contacts you no longer interact with.
- Be cautious about accepting friend requests from people you don’t know.
- Regularly review your blocked list and unmute chats when necessary.
